Marvin Donald Mixon, age 94, of Olanta, SC, passed away on January 24, 2025 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. Donald was a dedicated member of the Olanta Baptist Church and proudly served as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also held the position of Mayor Pro-tem of Olanta, SC. Donald was a retired plumbing contractor, known for his hard work and commitment to his community. He was the beloved son of the late Paul Bethea Mixon and Florence Elma Hill. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Marvin Donald Mixon, Jr.; his grandson, Brad Thigpen; his sisters, Johnnie Youmans, Lula Miller, Inez Green, Pauline Brown, Ethelene Timmons Lyerly; infant twins; brothers , Hill Mixon, Lloyd Mixon, Wimberly Mixon, and Wallace Mixon. Donald is survived by his daughters; Anne Campbell of Pennsylvania, Donna (Tim) Coker of Darlington, and Dana Myers of Florence. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren; Whitney (Milena) Thigpen of Florida, Lee Thigpen of Pennsylvania, Anthony Thigpen of Tennessee, Christopher Coker of Columbia, Ashton Coker of Fort Mill, Lindsey Myers of Hawaii, and Emily Myers of Florence. Donald was also blessed with great-grandchildren; Andrew Thigpen and Katheryn Thigpen of Florida, and Aubri Lewis of Florence. Thanks to all who did so many things for Donald as his health declined, especially Willa Mae and M.D. Floyd, Timmy Tedder, Bland McElveen, Perry Smith, staff of Riverside Electric Motors, Paula and Herb Stacy, Brenda and Anthony Abernathy, and McLeod Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at The Olanta Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Donald will be laid to rest at Thomas Cemetery in Olanta.
