Olanta- Mrs. Annis Elizabeth Thompson Raines age 93, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Heritage Home of Florence after an illness. Born in Olanta, she was the daughter of the late Loran Ezra Thompson and Violette Ruth Thompson. She was a graduate of Columbia College, worked for a number of years as school secretary for Olanta High School, was founder and librarian of Olanta Public Library for 30 years, from 1980 – 2010, she was an avid reader, her passion was to share her love of books to all. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Curt) Hobbs of Fayetteville GA, and Susan Weaver of Chapin: one son, Charles E. (Kelly) Raines, Jr. of Olanta: seven grandchildren, Summer Hobbs (Paul) Shealy, Aubrey Weaver (Todd) Wood, Sara Hobbs (Sean) Honeywill, Chad (Anna) Weaver, Ally Weaver (Parker) Rivers, Charles Raines III, and Andrew Raines: twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Annis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles E. Raines, Sr; one daughter, Charlene Annis Raines. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm at the funeral home, Monday, March 6,2023. Funeral Services will be held at 4pm Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1520 N.
