Barbara Ann Dennis Hodge

Barbara Ann Dennis Hodge, 92, widow of Hampton Hodge, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Florence Place in Florence, SC. Born in Lake City on June 2, 1929, she was a daughter of the late William Ollie Dennis and the late Eula Mae Player. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Sumter. She is survived by a son, Clarence Elbert Stewart of Lake City; a daughter, Betty Ann McCutcheon of Florence; four brothers, W.C. Dennis (Sharon) and W.O. Dennis both of Scranton, Bobby Jo Dennis of Stockbridge, GA, and Frank Dennis of Homestead, FL; four sisters, Carolyn Roberson of Olanta, Maurice Gibbons (Glenn) of New Zion, Dianne Williamson (Cabbage) of Kingstree, and Cindy McGee (Tommy) of Columbia; a special sister-in-law and best friend, Rosa Geddings; eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband, Clarence “Bud” Stewart; her 2nd husband Hampton Hodge; a son, Roy Allen Stewart; a daughter, Paulette Roberson; five brothers, Earl Dennis, Leroy Dennis, Tony Dennis, Lavon Dennis, and Roger Dennis; three sisters, Doris Fay Dennis, Ollie May Morris, and Tootsie Ardis; and one grandson, Kent Dennis. A graveside funeral will be held 12 noon on March 9, 2022, in Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Turbeville with Rev. Pete Mixon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to East Side Baptist Church, 701 Boulevard Road, Sumter, SC 29153 or The Shriners Hospital, 701 Grove Road, Greenville, SC.
