SCRANTON - Bernadine Crawford, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the age of 67. Bernadine was born on Saturday, September 14, 1957, in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late William Leonard Floyd and the late Nancy Ann Melton Floyd. She was a member of Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Bernadine's family and friends were the joys of her life, especially her grandchildren. Her home was a place of love, open doors and generous hospitality. She loved and took pride of her yards, especially her flowers. Bernadine spent a fulfilling career as a secretary, where her attention to detail, unwavering commitment, and kind-hearted nature left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. She was known for her beautiful blue eyes and contagious smile, friendly demeanor, and the steadfast support she provided to everyone around her. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of 47 years, Darrell Eugene Crawford; one son, Jody Eugene Crawford of Scranton; three daughters, Phoebe Crawford of Scranton, Angel Crawford Miles of Coward, and Chasity (Kipp) Coker of Manning; grandchildren, Casey (Jessica) Garris, Landon Eugene Miles, Jordan Shae Crawford, Rivers Layne Crawford, Camryn Coker, and Evan Coker; a great grandchild, Winston Dax Garris; a sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Crawford; sisters, Ann (Ronnie) Parker, Betty Lou Evans, and Janice (Frank) Welch; one brother, Jeff (Merry) Floyd; a very dear cousin and friend, Fran (Ray) Mack; a special friend, Gladys Teal; and a number of nieces and nephews. A special thanks to her friend, Renee McAlister, who provided transportation back and forth to Duke during her illness. Mr. Darrell and the family want to extend their special thanks to Tonya, Shelia and Mary with Palliative Care for their friendship and caring qualities. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth Floyd, Gene Floyd; a sister, Shirley Faye Parrott; a sister-in-law Libby Floyd; and a very special niece, Elaine Parrott. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Douglas Filyaw officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Marty Evans, Len Parker, Lance Parker, Tony Floyd, Greg Parrott, and Russell Parrott. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Filyaw and Kipp Coker. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bernadine's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, as a way to continue her legacy of giving and compassion. Her heartfelt wish was to contribute to the ongoing fight against cancer and to support research and care for those affected by the disease. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Floyd Funeral Home, Inc. of Olanta. Friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many. Bernadine's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
