Bernice Prevatte Mcelveen

Lynchburg - Bernice Prevatte McElveen, widow of Glenn O’Neil McElveen, of Lynchburg, SC passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She was born to the late John Furman Sr. and Marie Scott Prevatte on October 6, 1934 in Kingstree, SC. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School. She was a member of Shiloh Christian Church in Lynchburg. She dearly loved her family, her church and her community. One of her favorite things to do was to sit in her rocking chair on her back porch. She is survived by three sons: Dennis (Nancy) McElveen, Mitch (Patti) McElveen, and Gregg McElveen all of Lynchburg, and one daughter, Pat (Leo) Furlong of Mooresville, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Matt & Jill McElveen, Laci (Joel) Taylor, Kelli (Jacob) Grant, Leo Furlong IV (Tay), Jackie (Darrell) Ford, Ben Furlong, 6 great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Essie Prevatte Frierson, Leroy Prevatte Moore, John Furman Prevatte, Jr., Montague Jacob Prevatte, Edwin Earl Prevatte and Addie Prevatte Blanton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27th at 3 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (2 pm) at Shiloh Christian Church, 8705 Woods Bay Road, Lynchburg.
