Betty Lou Coker Atkinson New Zion - Betty Lou Coker Atkinson age 80 died May 20, 2017 at her home after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday May 23, 2017 at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial in Olive Grove Church Cemetery directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta, visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM Monday at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Atkinson was born in Clarendon County a daughter of the late Danny R. Coker and Ethel Driggers Coker. She was a faithful member and church pianist for Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church for 49 years, retired from Clarendon School District III, where she was employed for 19 years, she composed the Alma Mater for East Clarendon High School, and was also a piano instructor for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Atkinson, an infant son, Rusty Atkinson, three sisters, Burnette C. Coker, Janie Lee Coker, and Virginia C. Moore, four brothers, Cleo Coker, A. R. "Jab" Coker, Howard D. "Pompey" Coker, Danny D. "Lucky" Coker. She is survived by a daughter, Sue Atkinson (Scott) McFaddin of Gable, two sons, Barry (Gwen) Atkinson and Danny Atkinson both of New Zion, a brother, W. L. "Mutt" Coker of Alcolu. Six grandchildren, Trent (Ashley) Atkinson, Jenna Atkinson (Jason) Sutton, Aubrey McFaddin and fianc Jessica Bazen, Colby McFaddin, and fianc Amber Sims, Blaine McFaddin, and Dylan Atkinson. Five great-grandchildren, Madison Atkinson and Kayden Atkinson, Aniston McFaddin , Easton McFaddin, Mary Harper Sutton. Two special friends, Faye Gamble and Annabelle Brown. The family would like to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice Care and her caregivers, Beebe Coker, Amy Knowlton, Anna Dubose, Tanya Smith, and Delores Mickens.
