Billy Dean Matthews

SCRANTON - Billy Dean Matthews, 69, husband of Melinda Joy Matthews, entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at MUSC Health Florence. Born March 30, 1954, in Florence, SC, he was a son of the late Wade Olee Matthews and the late Annie Lou Broad Matthews. He was a member of Unity Christian Fellowship and was owner and operator of Matthews Pressure Washing and Yard Services. He is survived by his wife; one son, Jarrod Matthews of Missouri; one daughter, Ashley (Chris) Bazen of Florence; four grandchildren, Kelsi Cooper, Derrick (DJ) Cooper, Carter Bazen, Adlyn Matthews; two sisters, Betty Sims of Lynchburg, and Frances Rodkey of Ft. Wayne, IN; two brothers, Don Matthews of Florence, and Mickey (Vivian) Matthews of Effingham; a special brother-in-law, Chuck Floyd of Maryland; two special sisters-in-law, Karen Blanton of Nichols and Rhonda Moore of Mullins; and numerous nieces, nephews and fur babies. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one infant brother. A memorial service will be held 3pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Unity Christian Fellowship (3652 Olanta Highway, Timmonsville, SC) with Rev. Lloyd Ackerman officiating. A visitation will be held from 2 – 3pm on Saturday, March 9th at Unity Christian Fellowship and at other times at the residence 2149 N. Bethel Road, Scranton, SC 29591. Floyd Funeral Home 136 E.
