Carl Gene Dennis Olanta Carl Gene Dennis age 77 died August 4, 2020 at his daughter's home after an illness. A graveside service will be held at 11 am Thursday at Lake City Memorial Park. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic social distancing and use of masks is encouraged. Mr. Dennis was born in Florence County, S.C.. a son of the late Carl B. Dennis and Nita Lee Dennis. He was a self employed building contractor and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Coker Dennis. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra D. (Walter Tony) Floyd of Olanta, two sons, James Russell (Beverly) Dennis of Florence and Carl Gene (Loretta) Dennis, Jr. of Summerton, sisters, Nancy (Bill) Trebella and Retha (Rev. Larry) McAallister both of Lake City, Rita (Jimmy) Howell of Florence, a brother, Legrand (Lois) Dennis of Monks Corner, six grandchildren, Lauren E. Floyd, Brett (Ashley C.) Floyd, Madeline Dennis and Anna Dennis, Harley Dennis, and one great-grandchild, Waylon S.Floyd. Mr. Dennis was a honest hard working family adoring man. He dearly loved his deceased wife, his children and grandchildren. He was one of the few contractors left that grew up in the days when a handshake was everything. His gift was the ability to create dreams for family with his home building and believed working and providing for his family was everything. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. As a family we know the Lord gained a great man and a great homebuilder. May he and our mother build a home in heaven where we can all join them again with our heavenly father. He was a true blessing to all and to those who were blessed to be part of his life.
