Cathy Elaine Copeland

OLANTA – Cathy Elaine Copeland, 71, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee. Born December 11, 1951 in Florence County, SC she was a daughter of the late Herbert Legrande Copeland and the late Margaret White Copeland. She was a member of Olanta Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Olanta High School where she was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She received a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Education degrees from Frances Marion University. She was a lifelong educator having taught in the elementary level at Salem Schools, Inc. and Olanta Elementary School for several years. She was fond of her Yorkshire Terriers. She is survived by two brothers, Carl Copeland of Olanta, and Phil (Jacque) Copeland of Ft. Mill; one niece , Janan Jones of Charlotte, NC: one nephew Jason Jones of Summerville; special friend, Dickie Kirby. A graveside memorial service will be held 2pm, Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the Olanta Baptist Church Cemetery on Park Ave, Olanta with Rev. Myers Graham and Mr. Kent Coker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and at other times at the home of Carl Copeland, 302 N. Jones Road, Olanta, SC.
