Surrounded by her children and family Mrs. Cecelia Powell Beasley, age 81, widow of Bennie Thomas Beasley, Jr., passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, at her residence. Born October 4, 1940, in Olanta, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jessie Lee Powell and Janie Elizabeth David Powell. Her career included The Citizens Bank with 25 years of service. After retirement, she opened and operated the Country Rose flower shop serving her hometown community for 15 years. She was a member of Turbeville First Baptist Church and a 1958 graduate of East Clarendon High School. She is survived by four children, Bennita Bess “Beebe” (Grey) Coker of Turbeville, Bennie Thomas (Carol) Beasley, III, of Maysville, NC, Deborah Elizabeth “Teensie” (Kerry) Barrineau of Turbeville, and Thomas Alexander “Tab” (Jennifer) Beasley, Sr., of Turbeville; five stepchildren, Johnnie Beverly (Gregory) Pearce, Pat H. Evans, Margaret Lynn (C.W.) Brunson, Lois Karen Hardy, and John Ruben (Roxanne) Hardy; eight grandchildren, Marlana Beasley (Brandon) Sewell, William Benjamin “Benjie” Welch, Kirby Phillips (Ricky) Poole, April Coker (Blake) Newsome, Chadwick Thompson “Chad” (Leah) Coker, Brandon Powell (Summer) Beasley, Thomas Alexander “Zan” (Sydney) Beasley, Jr., Jesse Beasley (Ashton) Knowlton; eleven great grandchildren, Stella Rose Welch, Beasley William Sewell, Darcy Jane Newsome, Kinsley May Welch, Madison Elizabeth Sewell, Willa Grey Newsome, Gracelyn Mae Beasley, Charlotte Thomas Beasley, Thompson Grey Coker, Emma Blakely Coker, and Ryleigh Jean Beasley; four step grandchildren, Louise Creuz, Gregory Pearce, Jr., Kipp (Leslie) Barrineau, and Kerri Allison Barrineau; three step great grandchildren, Virginia Creuz, Barron Creuz, and Nexsen Barrineau; three siblings, Vivian Elizabeth Jackson of Moncks Corner, Barbara Powell Surette of Summerton, and Jessie Dewayne (Connie) Powell of Walnut Hill, Fl; and two lovely cousins Jean Powell Boykin of Turbeville, and Teresa Gibbons Hartley of Turbeville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 15 years, one brother, Freddie Rowland Powell; and a brother-in-law Peter V. Surette, Sr. A funeral will be held Saturday May 28th at 12:00pm with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Floyd and Rev. Patrick Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers are grandsons; Richard Doyle Poole, III, Brandon Tyler Sewell, William Blake Newsome, William Benjamin Welch, Chadwick Thompson Coker, Brandon Powell Beasley, Thomas Alexander Beasley, Jr., Richard Ashton Knowlton Honorary pallbearers; Dr. Priscilla L. Welch, Dr. C. Dorn Smith III, Jim Harlan, PA, Dr. James C.H. Smith, Mr. Kenneth Lee, Mr. Martin Hutto, Mr. David Nesbitt, and Mr. Jay Johnson. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service in the sanctuary of the church and at other times at the residence 17758 Highway 301, Turbeville. Cecelia was blessed with an earthly angel, Melissa Ruth Powell, RN (niece) in her final days of care. She made the last days brighter, showing her love by demonstrating her gentle touch and expert care. Melissa, we love you! Your presence was priceless to each of us. To our Amedisys Hospice family, we love you! Thank you for loving us and ministering to each of us as we walked that uncharted journey. Your touch and God’s grace carried us through.
