Clay Evan Thigpen of Turbeville, SC went to his heavenly reward on January 28, 2022. Clay was born on July 14, 1960, the youngest child of Charlie Thigpen and Winnie Coker Thigpen, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers David, Edwin, and Pressley Charles Thigpen and by his sister Vella Mangum (Grant), Rocky Mount, NC. He is survived by his sisters Linda Little, Raleigh, NC; Emily Booth (Bill), Wilmington, NC; Ellen Jahn (Larry), Cary, NC; Katrina Moore (Don), Lake City, SC; and Wendy Stogner (Phil), Scotland, and by his fiancé/soulmate Barbara Geddings, Turbeville, SC. Clay was also Uncle Clay to a huge group of nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved and adored. Clay worked in healthcare and retail grocery sales and was an avid fan of the USC Gamecocks. He was a lifelong member of Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church and loved his church family. Clay also loved every member of his large extended family and had an uncanny memory for family facts and dates. Clay was a kind gentle man, who will be deeply missed. The family will have a graveside service at Gibbons Cemetery, Puddin Swamp Road, Turbeville, SC at 2pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you make a donation in Clay’s name to Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church, 1097 Horse Branch Road, Turbeville, SC 29162.
