David Llewellyn Gowdy

Lake City, David Llewellyn Gowdy age 71, died November 17, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock PM Saturday November 19, 2011 at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel in Olanta with burial in Lake City Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2 -4 PM just prior to the service at Floyd Funeral Home. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Harry Cecil Gowdy and Cholee Bennett Gowdy. He was Owner and operator of Gowdy Insurance Agency, Gowdy Accounting and Tax Service, and Gowdy Grain Co., he was a Shriner, a board member with the Lake City Zoning Appeals Board, a former Florence County School District 3 board member, and was known throughout the community as an avid fundraising supporter of many civic organizations. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Keefe Gowdy of Lake City, a daughter, Elizabeth (Ann) Gowdy of Jefferson,Ga., two sons, David L.(Heather) Gowdy, Jr., of Lake City, and Robert W.
