David D. Parker Lake City David Parker, age 94, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his home after an illness. A funeral service will be held 3pm Friday, February 3, 2012 at McKenzie Tabernacle with burial at Old Piney Grove Cemetery near Barrineau, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the funeral home. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Ed Parker and Gatsie McCoy Parker. He was retired from The United States Army where he worked as a fireman at the Charleston Naval Base, a member of The Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. While serving in the Army, he received numerous decorations and service medals, EAME, Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Ribbon. He also retired from Campbell Soup Company and was a member of McKenzie Tabernacle. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmie Parker, and an infant son. Two brothers, Marvin Parker and Willie Parker. Two step-brothers, Cleve Feagin and James Feagin. He is survived by his wife, Edith Melton Parker. A daughter, Deann P. (Kent) Floyd of Lake City. Two sons, Johnny (Marjorie) Parker and Daniel (Linnie Mae) Parker both of Lake City. Two step-sisters, Lurlese Floyd of Kingstree and Edna Browder of Columbia. Eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
