Lake City, SC - Debra Lucinda Welch, a beloved member of the Lake City community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on Thursday, October 1st, 1953, in Clarendon County, South Carolina she was a daughter of the late Wardie Bethea Mims and the late Janie Coker Mims. Debra dedicated many years to her work as a sales clerk, where her warm smile and personable nature endeared her to colleagues and customers alike. Debra is survived by her family; a sister, Janalyn (Russell) Miles of Scranton; a grandson, Houston Welch of Effingham; and numerous cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Welch; a son, Lee Welch; a brother, LeRoy Bethea Mims; and a sister, Sondra Ann Mims. A funeral service will be held 11am on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery (751 Park Avenue, Olanta, SC). A visitation will be held from 10 - 11 AM on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Floyd Funeral Home. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of The Palms at Florence, especially, Ann McAlister, Adrienne Jaworski, and Nicole Bolton. Special thanks to the Agape Hospice Group, especially Penny Pahis and Vicki Brown for their compassionate care and support in the care of Debra. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Debra's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, as a way to continue her legacy of giving and compassion. Debra Lucinda Welch will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
