It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Theodore Floyd, a cherished member of the Sumter, SC community. Donald passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on Tuesday, January 6, 1953, in Lake City, SC, Donald was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. Donald was a dedicated employee of Sumter County Public Works, where he worked tirelessly and made many lasting friendships. His commitment to his job and his community was unwavering, and he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Donald is survived by his loving sister, Jacquelyn Mae Stokes and her husband Luke of Bishopville. He also leaves behind his adored nephew, Robin Floyd and his wife Denise of Cassatt, and his cherished nieces, Betty Nichole Elmore and her husband Lee of Cassatt, and Jacquelyn Kayla Gibbons and her husband Tony of Elgin. Donald was predeceased by his parents, the late Theodore Wright Floyd and Jessie Mae Pierce Floyd, as well as his two brothers, Bobby Floyd and Robert H. Floyd. A visitation will be held at Floyd Funeral Home in Olanta, SC, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 17, 2024. Family and friends will have the opportunity to gather and share memories of Donald's life. Following the visitation, there will be a graveside funeral service at 2:15 PM at the Bethany Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery (4172 Olanta Highway, Timmonsville, SC 29161). Pallbearers honoring Donald's legacy include his nephew, Robin Floyd, Lee Elmore, Tony Gibbons, Heyward Odom, Jr., and Richard Bradham, Jr. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Floyd Funeral Home, Inc., 136 E.
