Doris Roosevelt Hancocok Lake City Mr. Doris Roosevelt Hancock, age 78, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at McLeod Hospice House. A graveside service will be 3pm, Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at New Piney Grove Cemetery in Lake City, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. The family will receive friends at their residence of 941 New Zion Road, Lake City. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Jessie Franklin Hancock and Armie Ovie Kirby Hancock. Mr. Hancock previously worked at Hancock & Sons Auto Electric, was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served for 21 years and attended Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Hutchinson. Three brothers, Wilber Hancock, J.W. Hancock, and Curtis Hancock. Surviving are his wife, Vidella Hancock of the home. Two step daughters, Dianne Owens (Larry) and Debbie Hardee (Olin) of Lake City. Two step sons, Larry Parker (Linda) and Gerald "Jerry" Parker (Charlotte) all of Lake City. A sister, Earnestine Coker of Lake City. Seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.
