E.J. Langston Lynchburg Mr. Elbert Jackson "E.J." Langston, age 87, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be 5pm, Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by FLOYD FUNERAL HOME of Olanta. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Monday, August 16, 2010 at the funeral home. Born in Sardis, he was a son of the late William Ervin Langston and Annie Jackson Langston. He attended Sherwood School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne where he served as a Corporal in Italy, France and Germany during World War II. He was awarded five Bronze stars for service. He was a member of the following: The American Legion, the Mason's, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. He was the Assistant Treasurer of the Sunday School Department for many years. After working for ESAB/Union Carbide for 25 years Mr. Langston retired. He was a retired Carpenter and Farmer and enjoyed working at Clanton's Auto Auction in Darlington until he was 86 years old. He is survived by his wife; Ima Jean Langston of the home. Three daughters; Deborah Langston Finkelstein of Orangeburg, Sabra Langston (Glenn) Brown of Lynchburg and Susan Langston (Steve) Johnson of Cary, N.C.. One sister; Ernestine (Herbert) Lee of Timmonsville. Four grandchildren; Jim (Sissy) Keels, Allison (Jamie) Partee, Britt Johnson and Madison Johnson. Six great grandchildren; Jake Keels, Audrey Keels, Bailey Atkinson, Dylan Atkinson, Walker Partee and Drayton Partee.
