OLANTA – Eleanor Grooms Moore, 89, widow of Leland M. Moore, entered her eternal rest on Thursday, February 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born May 30, 1934 in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Platt and Lessie Seegars Grooms. She was a member of the Olanta Presbyterian Church and the Elizabeth Park Circle. She is survived by her children Joan M. Herbert of Charleston, Blake (Kaye) Moore of Olanta, Jane M. (Lee) Wertz of Sumter, Jimmy Moore of Olanta, and Lisa M. (Chris) Matthews of Olanta; eight grandchildren, Richard (Meghan) Herbert, Kelley M. (Corey) Reaves, Dylan (Brooke) Moore, Allyson W. (David) Sons, Jamie M. (Justin) Browder, Lauren Moore, Bryce Matthews, LeAnn Matthews (Dustin Prince); eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia Barrineau of Gardendale, AL; one sister-in-law, Louise M. Kennedy of Turbeville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Donald B. Grooms. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3pm on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in the Olanta Presbyterian Church Sanctuary with Rev. Walt Proctor and Rev. Adrienne Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Herbert, Corey Reaves, Dylan Moore, David Sons, Justin Browder, Bryce Matthews, Dustin Prince, and Ryan Moore. A visitation will be held from 1:30 – 2:30pm at Floyd Funeral Home and at other times at the residence 5161 Woods Bay Road, Olanta. The family request that memorials be made to the Olanta Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 647, Olanta, SC 29114.
