Eloise Lavender Moore

October 7, 1914 — April 30, 2011

Olanta Mrs. Eloise Lavender Moore, age 96, died Saturday morning, April 30, 2011 at her residence after an illness. Services will be held at 2 pm Monday, May 2, 2011 at Olanta Presbyterian Church in Olanta with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Born in Clarendon County she was the daughter of the late Charles Evans Lavender and Annie Belle Hicks Lavender. Mrs. Eloise graduated from Columbia College in 1935 and taught elementary school in Elim, SC for several years. She also taught school in her hometown of Olanta , SC for almost 40 years. She was a member of Olanta Presbyterian Church, an active member of her Bible class, ladies church circle. She loved flowers and was an active member of the Olanta Garden Club, she enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She was known for her love of camellias and other flowers. Eloise enjoyed being with people and traveled to Hawaii and other areas of the country. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Benjamin Wallace Moore and two brothers, William Maxie Lavender and Charles Evans Lavender. She is survived by her son, Charles Wallace Moore of Olanta and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Columbia College, 1301 Columbia Dr. Columbia , South Carolina, 29203 or to Olanta Presbyterian Church.
