New Zion - Mrs. Ethel Floyd age 90, died October 22, 2016 at the home of her son in Mt. Pleasant after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock PM Wednesday October 26, 2016 at New Hope Christian Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of the service at New Hope Christian Church. Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Frye and Isodora D. Guerry Frye. She was a homemaker, and an ordained Minister. She and her husband, the late Rev. J. Burdell Floyd pastored many Churches, and eventually founded New Hope Christian Church in New Zion where they pastored until his death in 1996. She was preceded in death by five children, John Burdell Floyd, Jr., Elaine Floyd, Libby Floyd; two sons, Jimmy Floyd and Roger Floyd; two sisters, Ruth Lee Frye Welch and Mary Lee Frye Wise; five brothers, Foreston Frye, McLeon Frye (Lucille), George Frye, Benjamin Frye, and Sydney Frye. Surviving are a son, Darren (Brandi) Floyd of Mt. Pleasant, a special son-in-law, Kenneth (Margaret) Floyd of Hartsville, six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
