George Franklin Sims

George Franklin Sims, 89, a cherished resident of Lake City, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 25th, 1936, in Florence County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Archie and Etha Reed Sims. George lived a full and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family and community. George was a dedicated and hardworking man, spending much of his career as an Inspector with Santee Print. His commitment to his work mirrored his dedication to his family and the values he held dear. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving family: five daughters, Jean (James) Sims Wright of Coward, Faye (Larry) Feagin of Timmonsville, Jan (Allen) Lee of Scranton, Esther (Tommy) Parker of Manning, and Rachel Lynn (Bob) McKenzie of Florence; two sons, Frank (Brenda Smith) Sims and Joey Sims, both of Lake City. George's legacy further lives on through his eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Rendle Simms, and a sister, Olivia (Donnie) Fennell, both of Lake City. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, "Sis" Virginia Isgett Sims, and his parents, Archie and Etha Reed Sims. He was also preceded by his brothers, John Henry Sims and Billy Sims; his sisters, Vera Sims and Betty Baxley; brother-in-law, Elvyn Baxley; and sister-in-law, Lida Sims. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am, Saturday, April 12, 2025 in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Fennels and Rev. Jason Miles officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Piney Grove Cemetery, Lake City, SC. Pallbearers will be Michael Sims, Danny Wallace, Stephen Feagin, Justin Feagin, Freddie Reynolds, and Jason Carraway. A visitation will be held from 10 - 11am on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Floyd Funeral Home and at other times at the home 1032 Clinton Road, Lake City, SC. George’s love for his family was evident to all who knew him, and his warm, welcoming spirit will be deeply missed. As he now joins those who have gone before him, his legacy continues to shine through the lives he touched. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Amedisys Hospice Care nurses, staff and chaplin and to George's caregiver, Miranda Phillips for their love, care and support provided George during his final days.
