George "Tom" Thomas Wilkes

George Thomas Wilkes Turbeville Mr. George "Tom" Wilkes, age 86, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011 after an illness. Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be tonight (Friday) from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Alfred J. Wilkes and Beulah Barr Wilkes. Mr. Wilkes was the former owner of Tom's Used Cars in Olanta, United States Navy Veteran of World War II, member of Veteran's Association and Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Wilkes. Two sisters, Hazel Fountain and Kathlyn Byrd. Three brothers, Calvin Wilkes, Monroe Wilkes and Herman Wilkes. Surviving are his daughter, Betty Lee of Turbeville. Six grandchildren, Tiffany (Mackie) Stewart of Florence, Thomas Bennett, Ray (Becky) Hickman, and Jason (Pam) Hickman all of Turbeville, Reese (Rita) Hickman and Katie (Brad) Lewis both of Olanta. Seven great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Brian Parker for being such a good friend to him.
