OLANTA – Gladys Eleanor Taylor Truluck, 89, widow of Elbert Brearley Truluck, passed away on July 16, 2022. She was born March 3, 1933, a daughter of the late Stephen Taylor and the later Maggie Price Taylor. Gladys was the baby of fifteen siblings, and she could name them in birth order her entire life, as well as her nieces and nephews, all of which she treasured. She was proud to have three brothers and one nephew who became ministers in The Methodist Church. She was a member of Olanta Baptist Church. She graduated from Cosmetology School and worked until Elbert and she started their family. Later in life she became certified as a CNA and worked for South Carolina Disabilities Board and many families in the area. Family was her priority and she loved everyone deeply and we all knew it and felt it every day. Her husband Elbert passed away in 1983 and their marriage and love for each other was strong and deep. The way they loved their “3 girls” was clear and passed along to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was “Nana” to her grands, and she was so proud of Ellen, Ben and their spouses Bryan and Makayla. She loved her great grands, Webb and Grayson and spent time with them. They all will continue her legacy. She is survived by her three daughters, Elizabeth Truluck Scully (Dan) of Marietta, GA, Margaret Truluck Burkhart (Doug) of Matthews, NC, and Stephanie Truluck Guenther (Tom) of Portage, MI; three grandchildren, Ben Burkhart (Makayla) of Matthews, NC, Ellen Wright (Bryan) of Charlotte, NC and Rachel Guenther of Chicago, IL; two great grandchildren, Grayson Truluck Burkhart of Matthews, NC and Webb Taylor Wright of Charlotte, NC. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Rev. Eben Taylor (Elsie), Freddie Wilson Taylor, Rev. George Stephen Taylor, Robert Edward Taylor, Rev. Raymond Taylor (Velma), Louise Taylor Boykin (Gene), Emily Taylor Tucker (Mr. Tucker), James Franklin Taylor (Dorothy), William Harmon Taylor (Elwood), Marvin Lee Taylor (Claire and Virginia), Mary Taylor Lane (Lowell), Dorothy Taylor McElveen (Billy), Martha Taylor McPherson (Joe), and Betty Jean Taylor Yarborough (Elston). A celebration of life Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Burton Welsh and Rev. Myers Graham officiating.
