Harriett Jane Young

COWARD – Harriett Jane Young, 73, entered her eternal rest on Thursday, March 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 7, 1950, in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Lauren Murrell Young and the late Stella Coker Young.  She was a member of the Olanta Original Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired claims specialist in the insurance industry.

She is survived by her three daughters, Melissa (Danny) Jeffords of Shawsville, VA, Glenda Floyd of Coward, and Leigh (Charles) Stewart of Hartsville; one daughter-in-law, Pam Young of Maine; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Margaret (Charles) Lynch, Robert (Roxanna) Young, Myra Hewett, Fred (Cindy) Young, Reba Owens, Connie (Larry) Haselden; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Allen Young; and one son-in-law, Jimmy Floyd.

A funeral service will be held 3pm on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Evans and Rev. LaWayne Poston officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Town Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Lynch, Mark Hewitt, Alex Haselden, Neal Haselden,

A visitation will be held from 5 – 7pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Floyd Funeral Home.  The family will receive guest at other times at the home of Charles & Leigh Stewart, 1304 N. Center Road, Hartsville, SC.
