Harry Lee Matthews Coward Mr. Harry Lee "Doody" Matthews, age 83, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at his residence after an illness. A service will be at 2pm Friday, May 25, 2012 at Family Worship Assembly in Coward, with burial in Matthews Cemetery in Coward, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home. Other times of visitation will be at, Betty and Jamie McCutcheon's home, 1032 Lynch Rd., Coward, SC. Born in Florence County Mr. Matthews was a son of the late William Matthews and Bertha Lee Matthews. He was retired from Coward Police Department, worked for Waste Management for over 20 years, attended Family Worship Assembly. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Carraway Matthews; two sisters, Frenchie McAllister, Dottie McDaniel; three brothers, Elijah "Pat" Matthews, Henry Matthews, J. C. "Bud" Matthews; one great grandson, Christian Ridge Dease. He is survived by three daughters, Betty M. ( Jamie) McCutcheon of Coward, Sharon M. (Jerry) Taylor, Sr. of Effingham, Karen M. (Tim) Smith of Effingham; six Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren; Three special Sister-in-laws, Cynthia T. Matthews of Effingham, Sybil B. Matthews of Coward, Doris Dennis of St. Stephens; special nieces and nephews.
