J. Varnelle Turbeville

J. V. Turbeville Olanta - Julian Varnelle Turbeville age 92, died August 29, 2016 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock PM Thursday September 1, 2016 at Olanta Baptist Church with burial in Byrd Cemetery in Timmonsville directed by Floyd Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Daniel Edd Turbeville and Mary Icabelle Truluck Turbeville. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, a member of Olanta American Legion Post # 85, and The VFW, a retired farmer, served on the board of Florence County Farm Bureau and the Production Credit Association, a construction foreman with Grace Construction Co., a member of Olanta Baptist Church, The Brotherhood of the church, and the Men's Sunday School Class, he was a charter member of Olanta Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Yarborough Turbeville, a son, Hugh Gregory Turbeville, brothers, William Silas Turbeville, Austin Pitts Turbeville, Joseph "Joe" Hiram Turbeville, Edward Eugene "Moot" Turbeville, Sisters, Dorothy Turbeville Patrick, Hazel Turbeville Spivey, and Elizabeth Turbeville Courtney. Surviving are two daughters, Frances Virginia (Jerry) Talbert and Lynn (James) Melton both of Olanta, A son, Julian Varnelle ( Joanna) Turbeville, Jr. of Florence, a daughter-in-law Cindy Turbeville of Virginia, nine grandchildren, Brannon Turbeville, Christy Turbeville, Sterling Turbeville, Ginny Talbert Adams, Scott Gregg Turbeville, Lance Turbeville, Jennifer Lynn Melton, Sarah Ann Melton, and Jamie Rebecca Melton, and seven great-grandchildren.
