TURBEVILLE – Jack Murvis Mims, 82, husband of Cheryl Elizabeth Miller Mims, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, November 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 7, 1939, in Turbeville, he was a son of the late Freddie Jackson Mims and the late Beulah Marie Baggett Mims. He was a member of Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a farmer. Murvis loved to work with wood and his skill as a craftsman is widely known. He is survived by his wife of 45 years; two sons, Jack Tyson Mims (Corrie) and John Bryce Mims both of Turbeville; two daughters, Erin Elizabeth Mims Kell (Jonathan) of Willow Springs, NC, and Julie Marie Mims Douglas (Frank) of Turbeville; one sister, Freddia M. Matthews of Turbeville; fifteen grandchildren, Anna Kell, Caitlyn Kell, David Kell, Micah Kell, Levi Kell, Rachel Kell, David Douglas, Miller Douglas, Riley Douglas, Ellie Douglas, Kynlee Douglas, Mara Pierce, Madden Pierce, Lizzie Mims and Jack Mims; and many nephews and nieces He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry S. Mims; one brother-in-law, Billy J. Matthews; and one sister-in-law, Marian Ann Gamble Mims. A Memorial Service will be held 3pm on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Theron Scott officiating.
