LAKE CITY – Edna Jeanette Green Lee, 83, widow of J. D. Lee, entered her eternal rest on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Regency Hospital of Florence. Born July 20, 1940, in Turbeville, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Eugene Green and Inez Mixon Green. She was a 1957 graduate of Olanta High School. She loved her church and was a faithful member of Lake City Baptist Church where she taught various classes over the years, was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was the Advertising Manager for Lake City News & Post for over 35 years. She loved to read and was a member of the Rutledge Book Club. Jeanette was very active in her community by delivering Meals on Wheels for a number of years; by baking and delivering her baked goods to shut-ins and sick in the community; and by sending cards to folks who needed encouragement. Jeanette especially loved to go out with her special friends on Saturday night looking forward to the fellowship and fun they would have. She is survived by her three daughters, Caroline (Harry) Coker of Scranton, Jan (Cleve) Rogers of Florence, and Susanne Rice of Lake City; her grandchildren, Jordan Cole, Jacob Cole, Harrison Coker, Brooke (Justin) McGee, Jamie Rogers, Brent Rice, and Lew Rice; Great Grandchildren, Hannah Nicole Cole, Bryson Coker, Emmy Coker, Kensley Cohen, Noah Coker, and Serenity Coker; one brother, Johnny (Cindy) Green of Turbeville; one uncle, Donald Mixon of Olanta; a special sister-in-law, Nelda Green; special cousins, Paula Stacy, and Dr. George Green; a special friend, Marlene Huckabee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, William Green Lee; one great grandchild, Paylynn Coker; one brother, Henry Green; and one sister, Marie Coker Hardy. A visitation will be held from 2 – 3pm on Sunday, August 6, 2023, in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church of Lake City. A memorial service will be held 3pm on Sunday, August 6, 2023, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Lake City with Rev. Shane Patrick officiating. Burial will be private.
