Jerry Scurry

FLORENCE – Mr. Jerry Scurry, 67 passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. Born November 25, 1956, in Florence, SC, he was a son of the late Barney Ray Scurry and the late Ella Abrams Scurry. He was retired from Lowes in Sumter. He was a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam era and was a member of the American Legion. This past October Jerry fulfilled his lifelong desire to return and visit the base where he was assigned in Germany during his time in the Army. He is survived by his two sisters, Bonnie Yates of Lake City and Janice Scurry Dennis of Florence; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Shirley Welch of Turbeville; and two brothers, Larry Ray Scurry of Turbeville, and Terry Lee Scurry of Lake City. A memorial service with military honors will be held at Florence National Cemetery, 1pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Arrangements made through Floyd Funeral Home, 136 E.
