Jim Matthew Porter

NEW ZION – Rev. Jim “Jimmy” Matthew Porter, 86, husband of Evelyn Janett Pope Porter, entered his eternal rest on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born February 20, 1937, in Clarendon County, South Carolina he was a son of the late Eulice Lawrence Porter and the late Susan Coker Porter. He was a retired minister with the South Carolina Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church having served many churches. He is survived by six children: Darrell (Sallie) Porter of Turbeville, Brenda (DeWayne) Culick of Lake City, Sharon (Bobby) Morris of New Zion, Tony (Nett) Porter of New Zion, Glenn (Janet) Porter of Lake City, Missy (Gregg) Byres of Tucson, Arizona; sixteen grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren; five siblings, Kathleen Feagin of Moncks Corner, Betty Jo Wilkes of Turbeville, Mary Francis Bryant of Lake City, Janie Mae Parker of Sumter, and Robert “Pete” Porter of Manning. He was preceded in death by his parents: four brothers, George Porter, Mack “Big Shot” Porter, Lawrence “Dick” Porter, Larry J. Porter; and one sister, Vinnie Matthews. A funeral service will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony B. Porter and Rev. Bobby Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the New Town FWB Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Parker, Calvin Porter, Brandon Morris, Chris Privette, Glenn Porter, Miles Privette. Honorary pallbearers will be, Darrell Porter, Jackie Bradshaw, Hunter Culick, Darrick Porter, Brian Haney, Harry Blackmon, Dawson Cantey, Mason Cantey, Sam Porter, Tommy Matthews.
