Jimmy Laverne Poston

FLORENCE – Jimmy Laverne Poston, 69, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at his residence after an illness. Born March 13, 1953, in Florence, SC, he was a son of the late Laverne Poston and the late Virginia Isabell Wilkes Cook. He attended New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was retired from Vulcraft Industries. He is survived by four sons, Jimmy “Snapper” L. Poston, Jr. (Renie) of Lake Lure, NC, Jerry Dewayne Poston (Heather) of Coward, Brayan “Bryan” A. Poston (Ashley) of Effingham, and Tommy Ray Poston (Erin) of Virginia; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Jerry Cook and Franklin Poston both of Florida; and one sister, Joyce Diane Cook of Savannah, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Christina Amanda Poston; and one brother, Danny Ray Poston. A funeral service will be held 3 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Susie Dease officiating. Burial to follow in the Hicks Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his four sons and two grandsons. A visitation will be held from 2 – 3 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Floyd Funeral Home and at other times at the home 6331 E.
