TIMMONSVILLE – John David Grainger, Sr., 77, died at MUSC Florence on Thursday, March 3, 2022. Born December 19, 1944, in Florence County, he was a son of the late Thomas “Pete” Melvin Granger and the late Frances Azalee Cusaac Granger. He retired from Vulcraft after thirty-Five years of service then went to work at Stock Components in Timmonsville. He was an avid fox hunter and loved riding horses. He was a hard worker who loved his family . He was known by always having a packet of chewing tobacco, flashlight and cellphone in his top pocket. He is survived by his wife, Clarice Tedder of Timmonsville; his son, Davey Grainger of Timmonsville, two daughters, Gwen Grainger (Jeremy Windham) and Caroline Robinson both of Timmonsville; five grandchildren, Jenni Grainger (John Sutton), Morgan Grainger, Hunter Calhoun, Brelee Calhoun, and Ayden Robinson; one great-grandchild, Sadie Kate Sutton; a brother, George Granger of Timmonsville; and a sister, Margaret Coward of Timmonsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Tommy and Vernila Granger; an infant son, Christopher Grainger; and a brother, Thomas Melvin Grainger. A graveside service will be held 2pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Craig Tedder officiating.
