Johnnie Lewis Player, born on August 18, 1940, in Sumter, SC, passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 84. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Johnnie is survived by his wife; Joann McWilliams Player; his daughter, Angela Renee (Shane Strimpfel) Sieber; his sons, Johnnie L (Pamela) Player, Jr; Paul Anthony (Virginia Elaine) Player, and David Elliott (Robin) Player, all residing in Turbeville. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Randy W. Player of Turbeville. He was predeceased by his parents; William Roy Player and Theda Lourie Tarte; his brother, Roger Dale Player; two grandchildren, Kelsey Lewis and Paul Lee. Johnnie had a fulfilling career as a construction manager, retiring from the Lake City Housing Authority. He was a dedicated member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church in Turbeville, where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, at 3:00 PM, with a visitation at 2:00 PM prior to the service. Pallbearers will include Daulton Player, Brooks Staves, Wyatt Sieber, E.J. Rhinehart, Eric Wilson, and Grant West.
