Johnny Lamar Welch, Jr.

TIMMONSVILLE – Johnny “Jay” Lamar Welch, Jr., 36, died Friday, August 27, 2021 at his residence. Born March 15, 1985, in Sumter, he was a son of Pamela Tarleton Dukes and the late Johnny L. Welch, Sr. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. He is survived by his mother; two brothers, Malcolm Gunner Dukes of Timmonsville and Benjamin Dukes of Turbeville; maternal grandmother, Mary Turner Tedder of Hartsville; paternal grandmother, Juanita Welch (Chesley Thigpen) of Turbeville; two uncles, Howard Tarleton of Timmonsville and Rodney Welch of Turbeville; one aunt, Renee Carter of Turbeville. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John William Welch; his maternal grandfather, Julius “Pete” H. Tarleton; one uncle Chuck Welch. A funeral service will be held 3 P.M. on Sunday, August 29, 2021, in the Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
