LAKE CITY – Joseph Pearlie “J.P.” Coker, Jr., 87, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at his residence. Born December 26, 1934, in Lynchburg, SC, he was a son of the late Joseph Pearlie Coker and the late Pearl Thigpen Coker. He attended Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a retired pipefitter from IPI Company. He is survived by one sister, Jessie Fee Floyd of Olanta; one brother, Ray Coker (Angie) of Lake City; three step daughters, Diane Kirby, Charlene Blalock, Virginia Culick and their families; one special grandson, Mikey Lighthill; a special niece, Deanna Coker Miles (Phillip); a number of nieces and nephews; and his special caregiver, Sandy Rauch. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Evelyn Hanniford Coker; his second wife, Annie Jo Powell; two brothers, Wardell Coker and Durant Coker; and one sister, Oree Taylor. A funeral service will be held at 4P.M. on Friday, April 1, 2022, in the sanctuary of Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tim Coker, Dr. Bobby Floyd and Mrs. Alta Mims officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:30 – 4 P.M. on Friday at the church and other times at the residence, 3356 McKenzie Road, Lake City.
