Junior David Matthews

Junior David Matthews Turbeville Mr. Junior David Matthews, age 74, died January 9, 2011 in a Darlington nursing facility after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with burial at 2 PM in Florence National Cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM (tonight) Wednesday at the funeral home. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Ingram Wilbur Matthews and Nettie Mae Lee Matthews. Mr. Matthews was a retired textile truck driver. He was a 3 year Army veteran of the Korean War. He loved music and played bass guitar for several gospel groups. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Matthews. Surviving are a sister, Bobbie Jean (Jack) Coker of Olanta. A niece, Alice (Herman) Feagin. Two nephews, Mike (Shannon) Coker and Kent (Katheryn) Coker.
