MIDWAY, TN - Margaret Kristen Thigpen McElveen, 42, wife of Jimmy Donavon McElveen, Jr., died Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a prolonged illness. Born November 20, 1978, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Chesley Davis Thigpen, Sr. and the late Alberta Floyd Thigpen. Kristen was a graduate of Carolina Academy, Class of 1997. She completed her Medical Clerical certification at Williamsburg Technical College in 2001. She worked in the medical field in SC and then later in TN, receiving additional certifications during her career. She was a loving caregiver and homemaker who was always helping others. She loved dolphins, anything turquoise, and making crafts. She is survived by her husband of 14 years; her father; her step mother, Juanita Welch Thigpen; one sister, Kimberly T. Black (John) of Olanta; two brothers, Colonel Chesley D. Thigpen, Jr. (Andrea) US Army stationed at Ft. Eustis, VA and Timothy D. Thigpen (Hope) of Lake City; three nieces; and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother. A funeral service will be held 4 P.M. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Chad Culick and Rev. Billy Miles officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church and other times at the residence, 4237 Thigpen Road, Olanta, SC. Pallbearers will be Jason Floyd, Stephen Floyd, Ches Thigpen, Shayne Thigpen, Phillip Black, and Andrew Black. The family request that memorials be made to Clarendon Christian Learning Center, P.O.
