Laura Robinson Miles

Laura R. Miles Effingham Laura Frances Robinson Miles, age 55, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. Cancer took her body, but "NOTHING" defeated her spirit. Services will be held at Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church at 2pm Monday, May 30, 2011 with visitation after the committal, with FlOYD FUNERAL HOME of Olanta in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Miles, born in Clarendon County, was the daughter of the late Melba Carolyn Graham Robinson and Thomas Sanford Robinson of Turbeville. She was a 1977 Graduate of Coker College with a BA degree in Early Childhood. She taught at East Clarendon School District #3 and worked at several middle schools in Florence. She also taught in private and Christian Schools in Florence Ala., Darlington County SC and in San Antonio, TX. She was a member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church of Timmonsville where she played the organ, sang with the choir, and served in different organizations and committees through the years. Laura fought cancer for over 2 years without complaining and was always cheerful and left her smile and sweet spirit wherever she was. She is preceded in death by her Mother; Carolyn Robinson, a sister; Claudia "Lyn" Carolyn Robinson and one brother; Thomas "Tommy" Sandford Robinson, Jr.. Surviving are her husband; Edwin L. Miles of Effingham, a daughter; Stephanie Lynne Miles of Effingham, three sisters; Beth (Randy) Shrum of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Patsy (Barry) Morris and Dora (Danny) Holladay of Turbeville, two brothers; Tab (Wendy) Robinson of Effingham, Phillip (Kimberley) Robinson of Turbeville.
