Lavona B. Thornbrew

New Zion, SC Lavona Beard Thornbrew, age 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at her home following an illness. Services will be held Sunday, March 17, 2019, at 3 pm at New Town Free Will Baptist Church, Lake City, SC, with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home on Saturday, March 16, 2019, from 4 - 8 pm, 7376 Black River Road, New Zion, SC 29111. Born in Barrineau, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Dudley Beard and Bertie Floyd Beard. She was retired from the Clarendon County Tax Auditors Office. She was a member of New Town Free Will Baptist Church, Lake City, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Thornbrew; three sisters, Lillie Bell Floyd of New Zion, Annie Lou Morris of New Zion, and Eleanor Welch of New Zion; one brother, Ivy Beard of New Zion. Surviving are four daughters: Libby (Larry) King of Charleston, Judy Moore of New Zion, Janice (Bruce) McNair of Gable, and Tracy (Tim) Daniels of Lake City; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Michelle Baker, Tanya Smith, Maria Almanza, Regina Lee-Carter, Brandy Fennell, Linda McElveen, Cindy Blackmon, and David Richardson with Amedysis Hospice for their care, support, and love.
