LAKE CITY – Allen “Boss Man” Scurry - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allen “Boss Man” Scurry, husband of Willa Dean Floyd Scurry, a cherished member of the Lake City community, who entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 74. Born February 8, 1950, in Lake City, South Carolina to the late Judson Lloyd Scurry and the late Lois Lee Scurry. “Boss Man” was a dedicated farmer and skilled carpenter, known for his hard work, craftsmanship, and commitment to the agriculture and construction sectors. He was an avid outdoorsman with a special love for fishing and hunting. He was a member of Pats Bay Hunting Club, a longtime member of Bull Head Hunting Club and was a member of Gibbons Mill Pond. “Boss Man’s “passion for these organizations was apparent to all who knew him, and his legacy will be carried on by fellow members who shared in his love of the great outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 54 years; one son, Brent Scurry of Lake City; one daughter, Carla (Joey) Scurry Mouzon of Lake City; two granddaughters Caley Alana Mouzon and Taylor Ann Godwin; three brothers, Steve (Betty) Scurry, Ricky (Frances) Scurry and Matt (Sharon) Scurry all of Lake City; one brother-in-law, Delton McAlister of Manning; two sisters, Jennie (Buddy) Jordan of Olanta and Elaine (Julian) Coker of Turbeville; many special friends including, Dalton Miles, Andrew Lee, Joe Amerson, Raymond Lynch, Ray Floyd, and Ricky Scurry. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Deborah McAlister. A funeral service will be held 4pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Rev. Chad Culick and Rev. Michael Cantey officiating. Burial will follow in the New Town Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. A Visitation will be held from 2 - 4 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, in the sanctuary of the Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church and at other times at the home 3473 Butler Scurry Road, Lake City, SC. Allen is remembered by his friends and family as a caring and humble man who had an unwavering dedication to providing for those he loved. His warm smile and generous spirit were constants in his beloved town, ever ready to lend a hand or share a story.
