It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Loretta Joan Green, who departed this world on Friday, December 27th, 2024, at the age of 68 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. Loretta was born on Tuesday, June 19th, 1956, in Richland County, South Carolina. She resided at Sunnifield Home in Williston, SC, where she lived a life full of grace and warmth, known and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. "Joanie" as she was affectionately known loved flowers, so the family is requesting floral tributes for her service. Loretta was the cherished daughter of the late Leslie Guy Green and the late Dora Elise Driggers Green. She is survived by her loving siblings: sisters, Karen Janet Gainey, and Eva Marilyn Green, both of Sumter, and Melba Lou Crossland of Gilbert; her step-sister, Laura Ellen Bowman of Texas; and her brother, Leslie Thomas Green of Charlotte. Loretta also leaves behind a host of adoring nieces and nephews who brought joy to her life. Loretta embarks on her final journey now, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever by those whose lives she touched. Though disabled in life, her spirit never wavered, and her warmth and compassion for others were ever-present. She enjoyed getting dressed up and attending Church. Her favorite song was "O, How I Love Jesus." A funeral service to honor Loretta’s life will be held at 2 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home, with Rev. Patrick Goodwin officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation from 1 PM to 2 PM, prior to the service. Following the funeral, a private committal service will be held at the Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. We are deeply grateful to the pallbearers—Randall Driggers, Adam Welch, Steve Crossland, Ricky White, and Jessie Baker—for their service and support during this time. The family wishes to extend the deep appreciation to Joanie's caregivers, Joyce Moore, Daisy Mays, Sharon Plunkett, Diane Felder, and Mary Washington for the special love and care they provided Joanie. Arrangements for Loretta have been entrusted to Floyd Funeral Home, Inc., located at 136 E. Main Street, Olanta, SC 29114. They can be reached at (843)396-4470 or via their website at floydfuneral.com. Loretta will be profoundly missed, but her kindness and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice to honor the empathy and generosity that Loretta exemplified throughout her life. May she rest in peace and eternal light.
