TIMMONSVILLE – Major Hinton Tedder, Sr., 95, husband of Doris Carmon Tedder, died Monday, August 9, 2021, at McLeod Hospice House. Born October 21, 1925, in Effingham, he was a son of the late Jimmie Albert Tedder and the late Ellen Wiggins Tedder. He was a member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the “greatest generation” having served in the US Army in World War II. He was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife of 68 years; three sons, Jimmy Tedder, Hinton Tedder (Elaine), and Dan Tedder (Jeanne) all of Timmonsville; five grandchildren, Crystal Welch (Patrick), Beth Leroux, Caroline Robinson, Dana Tedder, and Fallen Tedder; five great-grandchildren, Briana Hewitt, Chloe Welch, Dakota Leroux, Piper Welch, and Ayden Robinson; and three sisters, Violet Welch and Gertrude Oswald both of Sumter, and Lettie Coward (James) of Timmonsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Andy Tedder; a brother, Charles Tedder; and two sisters, Willistine Tedder and Betty Jean Tedder. A funeral service will be held 3pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. David Carlson, Rev. Earl Hanna, and Rev. Sherwood Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2 – 3 P.M. at the church and at other times at the residence of Hinton Tedder, 4154 Hall Road, Timmonsville. The family request that memorials be made to Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, 4071 Creek Road, Timmonsville, SC 29161.
