TURBEVILLE – Martin F. Welch, 84, widower of Janice Harper Welch, entered his eternal rest on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born March 11, 1940 in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Mike Welch and the late Mary Fagan Welch. He was a member of Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Olanta Pentecostal Holiness Church. Martin was a retired carpenter. His is survived by one son, Berry Martin Welch of Olanta; one daughter, Sylvia Ann Welch Wright of Turbeville; three grandchildren, Jessica (Trey) Taylor and Ryan (Jennifer) Johnson of Turbeville and Andrew (Madison) Welch of Florence; seven great grandchildren, Abbie Taylor, William Taylor, Logan Taylor, Tucker Martin Taylor, Conner Ryan Johnson, Charlotte Rose Welch, and Isabella Grace Welch; and four brothers, Archie Welch, Ray (Margie) Welch, Elbert (Reba) Welch, and Lanair (Donna) Welch all of Turbeville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife. A daughter-in-law, Mary Welch; a grandson, Jason J. Wright; one great grandson, Cayden Andrew Johnson; brothers Henry Welch, Sidney Welch, Thomas Welch; and sisters, Mary Lee Floyd, Ruth Nell Coker, and Sally Marie Miles. Funeral service will be held 3pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Lynch and Rev. Arthur McElveen officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Welch, Brent Welch, Jonathan Welch, M. D. Floyd, Andy McElveen, Gary Welch, Michael Welch, Adam Welch, and Pete Yates. A visitation will take place one hour prior (2 – 3pm) to the funeral service at Floyd Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4744 West Turbeville Highway, Turbeville, SC 29162.
