Mary Ellen Johnson Welch, 51, wife of Berry Martin Welch, entered into eternal rest, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Born August 07, 1970, in Lumberton, NC, she was a daughter of Peggy Springs Johnson and the late Arvin Pat Johnson. Ellen loved life and its many adventures. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; taking care of her animals; and being a care giver, taking care of her elderly patients. She is survived by her mother; her husband of 36 years; two sons, Ryan Johnson (Jennifer) of Turbeville, and Andrew Welch of Olanta; one grandson, Conner Johnson; two granddaughters, Charlotte Rose Welch and Isabella Grace Welch; four sisters, Denise Hopkins of Olanta, Dessie Floyd (Thad) of Turbeville, Patricia Jones (Wayne) of Darlington, and Jenny Johnson of Alcolu; three brothers, Joe Johnson and Ronald Johnson both of Olanta, and Michael Johnson of Lake City; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Mitchell Johnson; a sister Nancy Kay Welch; and a grandson, Cayden Johnson. A funeral service will be held 3pm on Friday, March 25, 2022, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur McElveen and Rev. Jake Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence, 220 Buddin Avenue, Olanta, SC. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of McLeod’s Hospice Program who provided much love and care for Ellen during her final days.
