Mazine Myers Mixon

Olanta Mazine Myers Mixon, age 91, of Olanta, died March 26, 2019, at her home after an illness. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019, at 2:30 pm at Olanta Baptist Church, Olanta with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta, SC. The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday, March 29, 2019, in the Olanta Baptist Church Sanctuary. Born in Florence County, she was the daughter of Heyward Stanley Myers and Mary Rosalind Lewis Myers. She was a member of Olanta Baptist Church and Edna Myers Sunday School Class. She was a math teacher and a principal at Olanta High School and was the first female principal of Florence District 3 Education System. She was a member of the Olanta Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband J. Wallace Mixon. She is survived by two daughters, Rosalind (Fred) McClam of Lake City and Cindy (John) Floyd of Columbia; two brothers, Newell Myers of Greeleyville and Stanley Myers of Kingstree; three grandchildren, Era Elizabeth (Mike) Pope of Olanta, Sara Elaine (Brian) Ray of Little Rock, and Joseph McClam of Lake City; two great-grandchildren, Sailor Elaine Pope and Elliot Nicholas Ray.
