Melbourne Knight Lake City Frank Melbourne Knight, age 91, died peacefully at his home Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Funeral services will be 2pm, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at St. John United Methodist Church, with burial in church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. The family will receive friends tonight (Friday, July 12) from 6pm -8pm at the funeral home. Mr. Knight was born at Knight Crossroads, Lake City, S.C on August 21, 1921 and spent most of his life in the St. John community. He was the son of the late Willie Wright Knight and Daisy Aurelia Nettles Knight. He attended St. John and Olanta public schools. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was stationed at Okinawa, Japan when the war ended. He was a retired, self-employed tobacco farmer and businessman. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church where he attended since boyhood, and served faithfully in many capacities until his death. He is predeceased by his wife, Vela Mae McKenzie Knight; an infant son; four brothers, Kenneth Knight, Ashton Knight, Sam Knight, and Hazel Knight; two sisters, Elise Robinson and Milne Eaddy. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Knight Flowers (James L. Jr.) of Manning; a son, Don Melbourne Knight (Cindi) of Lake City; a sister, Henrietta Morris of Charleston; three grandchildren, James Lee Flowers, III of Lake City, Lana Flowers Elliott (Paul Glenn, Jr.) Of Isle of Palms, and Tiffany Knight Graham (Craig Lee) of Reston, Va; four great grandchildren, Taylor Leigh Flowers of Columbia, Ava Grace Elliott and Olivia Gray Elliott of Isle of Palms, and Christian Lee Graham of Reston, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
