Mildred Dukes Turbeville Mildred Thornhill Johnson Dukes age 88 died October 14, 2015 at her home after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock PM Friday at Turbeville Southern Methodist Church with burial in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Floyd Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home, 1267 Dukes Road, Turbeville, SC from 6 -8 PM Thursday. Born in Florence County on October 15, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John William Thornhill and Ethel Josephine Stewart Thornhill Player. She was a member of Turbeville Southern Methodist Church and The Miriam Morris Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by husbands, Thadeus Johnson and Frank Dukes, a sister, Mazine Thornhill Harmon, a great-granddaughter, Savannah Rose Hux, a step-granddaughter Misty Dukes Gladden, a son-in-Law, Charles Edward Atkinson, Jr. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie (James) Lee of Scranton, Lynn (Mike) Weaver of Florence, a son, Steve Johnson of Scranton, a sister, Maude Phillips of Cross, two brothers, Bobby (Betty) Thornhill of Lynchburg, Tommy (Dot) Thornhill of Hanahan. One Step-daughter, Wendy (Al) Prescott of Holly Hill, two step-sons, Robert (Ana) Dukes of Lynchburg and Marion Dukes of Turbeville. Three grandchildren, Jonathan (Tabbetha) Hux, Brock Hux, and Chad (Mariah) Atkinson. Three great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren, eleven step-great-grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver, Veola Quattlebaum and Amedysis Hospice Team for their love and support during her illness.
