TURBEVILLE – Kay Frances Moore Hicks, 85, widow of Elbert Hartwell Hicks, Sr. died Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at McLeod Hospice House surrounded by her loving children. Born June 15, 1935, in Olanta, she was a daughter of the late Robert Coke Moore and the late Clara Elizabeth Lewis Moore. She retired from Industrial Electric & Rewinding Company after 23 years of service. She was a member of Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the Golden Agers Sunday School Class and the Women’s Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, Elbert H. (Maree) Hicks, Jr of Turbeville; three daughters, Susan K. Hicks and Jackie H. (Charlton) Watts both of Turbeville and Carol H. (Yancey) Newell of Knightdale, NC; four grandsons, Trey (Mary) Watts of Turbeville, W. Jackson (Mckensie) Watts of Pevely, MO, Matthew Hicks of Turbeville, and Jesse (Emily) Hicks of Lyman; two granddaughters, Caroline Chandler of Raleigh and Elizabeth Hicks of Turbeville; six great grandchildren, Sadie Watts, Clara Watts, J.C. Watts, Eleanor Watts, Asher Hicks and Wesley Hicks; two sisters, Louise Kennedy of Turbeville and Gloria Frenz of Sumter; one brother, Lance (Jaye) Moore of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Leland Moore, Robert Moore and Paul Moore; and one sister, Janis Brown. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021, at Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev Dr. W. Jackson Watts, Rev. Theron Scott and Rev. Patrick Goodwin officiating, Burial to follow in the St. James Cemetery, 3209 Burnt Branch Road, Lake City. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary prior to the service. The family request that memorials be made to The Friends of India or the Mandi & Neil Morgan Mission Funds c/o Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church, 1097 Horse Branch Road, Turbeville, SC 29162.
