New Zion Mrs. Martha Ann Gibbons, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2017 at her home. A funeral service will be 3pm Monday, March 27, 2017 at New Zion United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at their home tonight (Sunday) from 5pm-7pm at 7386 Salem Road, New Zion. Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late John Hector McNeill and Ellena Rodgers McNeill. She was retired from Clarendon County School District #3 as an elementary school teacher, a member of New Zion United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Black River American Legion Auxiliary and Kappa Delta Gamma Sorority. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Beth Mixon. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence Ike Gibbons of the home, three daughters, Patricia "Patty" Green of Pawley's Island, Sherrilyn Gibbons and her husband, Blake of New Zion, and Lauretta Gibbons and her husband, Virgil of Fort Mill. Two sisters, Margaret Clark Phillips, and Lena Phillips both of Lynchburg. Five grandchildren, Jennifer Altman, Patrick Gibbons and his wife, Leslie, Lance Green, Travis Green, and Devin Green. Six great grandchildren, Blake Altman, Banks Altman, Spencer Gibbons, Luke Green, Lauren Elizabeth Green, and Katherine Green.
