Nell Green Baker

Mrs. Nell Baker Cades Mrs. Nell Green Baker, age 80, of Cades passed away May 17, 2013 at her residence. Services will be held at 11am Monday, May 20, 2013 at Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be held (tonight) May 19, 2013 from 5-7pm at the church. Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late Gleaton Eugene Green and Sara Levina Robinson Green. In all that Mrs. Baker did she exemplified a life of Christian servanthood and love for God. She served her family and her community through her hard work and commitment to excellence, during her years of work at the Warsaw Manufacturing Company of Kingstree and Belk of Lake City. She served the kingdom of God as a lifetime member of Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church. For the last 14 years she served faithfully as the Horse Branch FWB Church secretary. She dedicated her life to the Christian training of young people through over 4 decades of service as a Sunday School teacher and many years as a CTS teacher. She helped in the building of the kingdom of God locally and around the world through more than 24 years as the President and a member of the Horse Branch FWB Women's Auxiliary. She helped disciple and edify others through more than 40 years as a deacon's wife. She sought to serve her church and community during her years of service in the Horse Branch FWB Dorcas Circle. When she saw a need in her family, church or community she sought to fill that need, even at the cost of great sacrifice on her part. For 80 years her love of Christ, her family and the church was apparent in all that she did. She is preceded in death by a sister, Theo Green Coker; a brother, Euston Green; a brother in- law Carey Poss; two sister in- laws, Emily McElveen Green, Mildred Watts Green, also in- laws Lloyd and Clytie Baker. She is survived by her husband, Nauvard L. Baker of Cades; three daughters, Vickie (Scott) Poston of Scranton, Cathy (Thurman) Springs of Lake City, Pam (Stan) Coker of Woodlawn, TN; two sons, Andy (Wanda) Baker of Cades, Lloyd (Danielle) Baker of Lake City; two sisters, Sarah Poss of Gainesville, Florida, Shirley (Sam) Knight of Lake City; one brother, Van Green of Turbeville; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
